IAmNuhRush is the creative alias of Junior Brown, founder of Nuh Rush Records. While Brown oversees the daily operations and business of the label, IAmNuhRush serves as the catalyst behind its musical movements, including The Redemption Project, Busy Signal’s “Cruising,” and Queen Ifrica’s “Tallawah.”
Raised in a household embedded in Jamaica’s music culture, Brown was introduced to the studio environment at an early age through his parents — his mother a singer and his father a music producer — becoming familiar with a variety of instruments and learning the record-making process as he often accompaned his mother to recording sessions with artists including Papa San, Lt. Stitchie, and Dirtsman.
Through the IAmNuhRush identity, Brown remains directly involved in the creative process behind the music released through the label.
As IAmNuhRush, Brown guides the sound and direction of each project, bringing together musicians, vocalists, and engineers to execute the company’s creative vision. As he explains, “The label is me and I am the label. I know the sounds I’m looking for on any specific project and communicate it to the rest of the team.”
For Brown, his role as IAmNuhRush keeps him connected to the root of why Nuh Rush Records came to be: the love of music and the belief that sound carries a message of purpose.
“I want to produce music that can encourage the discouraged and strengthen the weak, and play a positive role in music for generations to come.”
