Queen Ifrica

Born Ventrice Morgan in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Queen Ifrica stands as one of contemporary music’s most respected and emotionally sincere voices. Rooted in Rastafarian culture and shaped by a deep musical lineage, she emerged at the dawn of the millennium as one of roots reggae’s most commanding female torchbearers.

Her debut album Montego Bay introduced a formidable storyteller. Over the years, her commanding performances and unapologetic lyrical fire earned her the affectionate moniker “Fyah Mumma” — a voice unafraid to blaze against injustice and speak uncomfortable truths.

Over the course of her career, Queen Ifrica continues to hone and deepen her artistic conversation with records that have secured her place in Jamaica’s popular culture. Early tracks like “Montego Bay,” “Lioness on the Rise,” and “Below the Waist” are modern roots classics. Her stirring interpretation of “Four Women,” produced by multi-GRAMMY winner Stephen Marley, marked a defining moment. Reimagining Nina Simone’s civil-rights era classic through a modern lens revealed a new dimension of Ifrica — striking vocal depth, nuanced tone, and emotional complexity — clear signals of artistic evolution.

A series of Nuh Rush Records releases revealed an organic synergy between artist and label. “Predator’s Paradise” reaffirmed her uncompromising stance on social justice. “Proud of Me” and “Tallawah” celebrated resilience, self-possession, and unapologetic strength. Together, these releases chronicle an artist fully in command of her voice and vision, aligned with both her purpose and her time.

2026 signals a new season for Queen Ifrica. New management and a new record label, Nuh Rush Records, set a solid foundation for the Lioness to rise to new heights creatively and professionally. The new single “Lanton (Lantern)” leads into her forthcoming album, Breath of Life (scheduled for early summer). A reflective, modern roots record built over a driving bassline and Queen’s lyrical dexterity, “Lanton” captures the confidence and clarity of an one who has found a way through darkness by holding fast to their own inner light.
